Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor Rally

Glenn Beck, famed political commentator, author, Fox News channel host and owner of Mercury Radio Arts, claims that the restoring Honor Rally is not about politics.
Glenn Beck, whose often provocative and polarizing views are regarded as conspiracy theories by his critics, will be the headlining act at the rally. The rally which has been publicized by Glenn throughout the past few months of 2010 is scheduled to reach Washington DC, on August 28th and the location is the Lincoln Memorial. Glenn Beck claims that the theme of the rally is “about honoring character” and an attempt to acknowledge the sacrifices of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Sarah Palin and other prominent personalities from conservative politics, will also be participating along with cultural figures.
The rally coincides with the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s legendary “I have a dream” speech of 1963.
Glenn is quoted as saying “This is going to be a moment that you’ll never be able to paint people as haters, racists, none of it, this is a moment, quite honestly, that I think we reclaim the civil rights movement.”
Glenn Beck is famous amongst tea party activists and his supporters believe that he defends the traditional American values.
But Jess Levin, spokesman from the liberal Media Matters for America criticizes Glenn and says. “This rally is about one thing and one thing only. And that’s promoting Beck’s political agenda.” He also refers to the statement that Glenn made about President Barrack Obama being a racist.
Martin Luther King III submitted to a newspaper about Glenn’s rally that it’s “commendable that this rally will honor the brave men and women of our armed forces who serve our country with phenomenal dedication.” But he also added that the organizers of the rally were clearly invoking his father’s work.
Glenn Beck on the other hand is denying any comparisons to Martin Luther King, while maintaining that he did not realize that his rally was being scheduled on the same day as the anniversary.
