Beatrice Capra, who knocked off, Karolina Sprem, ranked at 95, in the opening round could very well face former champion Maria Sharapova in the third round of the tournament.

Capra, aged 18 is now the youngest player left in the women’s field. She is currently ranked at 371st.

Beatrice Capra received massive support and was cheered by the home crowd. She is constantly being compared to fellow American player Melanie Oudin who last year, at age 17 reached the quarter finals.

Beatrice Capra who has played against Melanie Oudin in 2008 admits that Oudin has been an inspiration to her.

Capra could now repeat history if she faces Maria Sharapova, who was defeated by Oudin last year at the same stage.

‘I don’t even want to think about that right now,’ Capra said, ‘But it would be so amazing if I got to play on Arthur Ashe Stadium. I can’t believe that I just won my first two matches here.

The rig is situated nearly 100 miles south of the Vermillion Bay of Louisiana, in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil rig platform is built in what is considered as shallow water, which is 340 feet deep. The rig is operated by Mariner Energy, a Houston based company who have been accused by the Federal authorities of 10 similar mishaps in the recent past.

The 13 crew members working at the rig jumped in to the sea after putting on their water survival suits dubbed “gumby suits” due to which they were easily visible in the sea, to their rescuers. They were picked up by the Crystal Clear, which is a commercial ship and were later flown to land by coast guard helicopters. Only one crew member was reported to have been injured in the accident, who was receiving medical attention at the Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma.

Air traffic restriction has been imposed in a radius of 5 nautical miles, over the affected oil rig.

Coast Guard reported seeing oil near the platform, spread, about 100 feet wide and 1 mile long.

Governor Bobby Jindal informed during a news conference that the fire erupted in only one of the total seven active oil wells, at the platform.

The cause of the explosion is not known as yet.

As a result of this news, the shares of Burger King soared to $23.48 from $18.86, an increment of 24.5%, during trading on Thursday.

Investment companies such as TPG Capital, Bain Capital, and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners still own almost 31% outstanding shares of Burger King Holdings Inc. which are expected to be acquired by 3G capital till 17^th September.

“The Burger King brand is one of the most recognizable and respected brand names in the world,” said John Chidsey, chief executive of Burger King. “We look forward to partnering with 3G Capital.” Although Chidsey will act as chief executive during the transition period, he will later take on the position of co-Chairman of the Board, the other co-chairman being Alex Behring, who is the managing partner of 3G Capital.

John Chidsey is optimistic about the fact that 3G will bring in its experience and contacts in to play and help increase sales, which have been declining in the past few years. He did not comment on new strategies of the company or respond to questions regarding cost cuts and possible layoffs, as a result of the deal.

It is still not clear what exact controlled substance was found in the car, there are conflicting reports. Some sources say they were consuming “Sizzurp”, which is a form of liquor containing codeine. T.I. and wife were later released from jail after paying a sum of $10,000 as bail. He is scheduled for a court appearance on Friday. This came as a shock and surprise for all, when Michael Douglas disclosed this news during his appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman“, on Tuesday. The 65 year old, actor said he had already gone through the first week of treatment for his cancer and that “…I’m pretty lit up right now,”

Michael Douglas said that he was suffering from a very sore throat earlier but the ensuing testing had not found anything until 3 weeks ago when he was informed that he had a late stage throat cancer.

Michael Douglas has a history of excessive smoking and alcohol abuse for which he got treatment in the 1990s. However Michael Douglas is very optimistic about his recovery because he says his cancer is still above the neck and the chances of his recovery are more than 80 percent.

Dr. Robert Haddad of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has said that once Michael Douglas gets through he will have to make some necessary life adjustments, he must never smoke or drink again and also avoid second-hand smoke. In case the cancer returns it will be difficult to treat a second time.

Michael Douglas is married to famous actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, with whom he has 2 children. He has starred in such notable films as “Fatal Attraction”, “Basic Instinct”, “Disclosure” and “Wall Street” for which he won the Oscar award for best actor.

The hurricane has been classified as category 4 based on the Safir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale and the hurricane is expected to retain its strength of category 4 in the next few days to come.

Currently the hurricane is close to about 205 miles east of the Grand Turk Island.

Turks Islands, Caico Islands, Southeastern Bahamas, North Carolina and the areas situated northward from there. The U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico will face heavy rainfalls which can result in flash floods and mudslides.

Hurricane Earl has already hit and caused damages throughout the Leeward Islands and also caused flooding in the twin islands of Antigua and Barbuda as well as causing power outages.

Hurricane Earl which started off on August 25, as a Cape Verde-type hurricane gradually developed in to a tropical storm. It maintained winds of 45 mph at the highest for full two days and finally elevated into a tropical storm with wind speeds of 60 mph. Early in the day, on August 30 Hurricane Earl was reported to have further intensified into a category 3 hurricane, and later that same day it was promoted to a category 4 hurricane. It has also been predicted that Hurricane Earl will hit Canadian areas situated towards the Atlantic Ocean.

The defending champions this year are Juan Martín del Potro and Kim Clijsters. But Del Porto will not be participating due to a wrist injury. Other notable players who will be absent this year include Justine Henin, who is down with an elbow injury and World No. 1 Serena Williams, due to a foot injury. The US Open tennis tournament, which was formally known as the United States Open tennis championships, is an annual event that is held in August and September and lasts for 2 weeks.
