Other residents of the area had been advised to move to evacuation centers established at North Boulder Recreation Center and the Nederland Community Center.

While many of the residents are being evacuated thousands of residents left Boulder County to visit the nearby casinos to enjoy their Labor Day holiday. Of prominence has been Black Hawk Casino’s Ameristar Casino Resort. Colorado Casinos are popular with travelers due to being located in beautiful places and having the games available. It has been a great day for Ameristar due to the large number of people pouring into the casino.

Firefighters continue their efforts to contain the wild fire. The cause of the fire is also still under investigation. It’s reported it could be days before the fire is put out completely. High winds had also spread the wildfires to Oklahoma, effecting almost 300 acres in the Woodward County.

A wide array of the most prominent DJs will be displaying their talents and making the crowds jump at the Electric Zoo festival, performing on multiple stages. Last year’s Electric Zoo proved to be the best party in town and it seems this time around it will surpass last time’s level of fun.

DJs expected to perform on Saturday, September 4 will include such great artists as the Chemical Brothers, Axwell, Kaskade, Benny Bennasi, Boris, ATB, Richie Hawtin, Claude Von Stroke, Joris Voorn, Paco Osuna, Paul Kalkbrenner, Reboot and Steve Bug.

On Sunday, September 5 attendees will move to the music of Moby, Armin van Buuren, John Digweed, Fedde Le Grand, Laidback Luke, D Ramirez, Chris Lake, Above and Beyond, Adultnapper, Davide Squillace, Dixon, Dusty Kid, Marco Carola, Martin Buttrich, Matthias Tanzmann, Popof and Victor Calderone.

There will also be official after-parties at the nightclub Pacha. The performances continue from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. both days. The tickets are priced at $86 for a single day or pay $142 for the 2 day Double-Pak. All Ages are allowed and the event is free for ages 5 & under. Entrance is subject to search for everyone. For those who like food and public gatherings, this is one event that is a must going for.

This year the festival features 80 local restaurants, 20 beverage stands which will be offering water, soda, beer, wine and milk. Small food samples will be offered at the booths of the local restaurants which will be priced from $1 to $5 per serving. An amazing number of more than 200 menu items will be available for the attendees to choose from and enjoy. Live music will be playing from 3 different stages with 5 different music formats.

The event is open to the public and admission is free. A “NO-PET” and “NO CARRY INS” policy is in place at the event so you can’t bring your own food or your pets to the event, because apparently at last year’s event, the dogs ate up most of the food.

The Taste of Madison is organized each year, over the Labor Day weekend by ,the Madison Festivals Inc. which is a private non-profit organization. Benefits from the event go to the United Cerebral Palsy of Dane County. The city of Madison is not involved directly in the event, and all expenses including security are paid for by the organizers.

Schimmel had been riding in a car with his 11 year old son and his 19 year old daughter, Aliyah at the time of the accident on Thursday. Aliyah who was driving the car was forced to swerve the car, to avoid a car collision that had occurred in front of them, but the car got out of control and rolled over to the side of the freeway.

Although all passengers of the car were rushed to the hospital, Schimmel’s son was reported to be unharmed. Aliyah’s condition was also reported to have stabilized i.e. physically.

Robert Schimmel, who lived in Scottsdale, had written a memoir in 2008, on his battle with cancer entitled “Cancer on $5 a Day”.

Robert Schimmel has left behind 6 children and two distraught ex-wives Vicki and Melissa.

The fight started in the upper deck of the stadium when, at about 9 p.m., a female fan complained to a young man about repeatedly using the f-word. The young man refused to mind his vocabulary, and this flared in to a volley of insults between the two and the female spectator slapped the young man across the face.

A few moments later, the woman’s father also approached the misbehaving young guy and tried to strangle him. As a result the father of the woman was pushed down 3 rows of seats. The woman again ran up to him and also got pushed by the young male spectator. At that moment the other spectators present jumped in to break them apart. Finally the security guards, although late, arrived to take away the three spectators involved.

Apparently it is a USTA policy a spectator who gets expelled from a match gets an automatic ban for 2 years. And can be arrested if they show up again during the ban period.

Although the trio was taken away from the stadium in handcuffs, they have not been identified by name or charged with any crime. But a ban has been imposed on them preventing them from attending any match till September 2012.

The game between Djokovic and Petzschner was briefly halted due to the distraction and resumed after the brawlers had been taken away.

“It’s a hot night in New York. Things happen,” Chris Widmaier, a US Tennis Association spokesman was quoted.

Djokovic joked, “I hoped there was no Serbian up there.” He also added, “I hope the fans enjoyed the match and not the fight.”

Djokovic went on to win the game and defeat Petzschner 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). Djokovic has progressed to the third round where he’ll be facing James Blake.

On September 1, North Carolina’s governor, Bev Perdue, had declared a state of emergency as Hurricane Earl approached the East Coast.

“The declaration calls for all state and local governments to cooperate in the North Carolina Emergency Operations Plan,” said the governor.

Some citizens feel that it’s unconstitutional and unwise to confiscate their weapons in a time when crime is bound to rise. They believe they will be left defenseless against the real criminals and predators and also against those who somehow might secretly retain their weapons.

Although it has not been confirmed, whether or not gun confiscation will be a part of the governor’s North Carolina Emergency Operations Plan, the government feels that it would be better if only law enforcement were carrying the weapons.

Until recently Hurricane Earl is approximately on a distance of 300 miles from the south of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and approaching.

According to a Civil Aviation Authority spokesman “The plane encountered technical difficulties after take-off from the Dubai International Airport and the captain tried to land again, but the plane crashed.”

The plane was a 747-400 jumbo jet, which is amongst the world’s largest aircraft, was owned by UPS and was carrying children’s toys and plastic products. The plane was on its way to Cologne, Germany.

Only ambulances and rescue teams were allowed in to the military base which was the crash site. Efforts were under way to extinguish the large scale fire at the base and from the debris of the plane. The teams of firefighters at site were also trying to recover the plane’s black box.

According to official authorities the accident had not affected air traffic or road transport in Dubai. No casualties were reported on the ground. The cause of the crash was also not made clear at the time of the statement.

Witnesses including reporters claim that part of the plane was on fire before it crashed and they saw flames rising from the crash site as well.

“This incident is very unfortunate and we will do everything to find the cause,” Bob Lekites The international operations manager of UPS was quoted as saying “Our thoughts go out to the crew members involved in the incident and their families.”

Christchurch with a population of approximately 372,000 is the second largest city in New Zealand.

The magnitude of the earthquake had originally been estimated at 7.4, but was revised downwards to 7.2 by the USGS.

An aftershock of 5.7 magnitude occurred about 20 minutes later, not too far from the epicenter. Reports from the Local media have indicated power outages throughout the city as the result of the strong aftershocks.

“It was like a freight train running through the house,” Chris Monroe, the operations manager for the New Zealand Fire Service was quoted as saying. Structural damages to houses have been reported also passengers at the New Zealand International Airport said they witnessed mirror damage at the airport.

Currently there was no threat of a tsunami, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. But a local tsunami could be generated by an earthquake of this magnitude especially when the earthquake is shallow.

“Earthquakes of this size sometimes generate local tsunamis that can be destructive along coasts located within a hundred kilometers of the earthquake epicenter,” the center informed.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre also advised the local authorities of the region to be careful regarding the areas close to the epicenter of the earthquake and to take appropriate action.

Previously in June of 1994, two earthquakes of M6.7 and M5.9 occurred approximately 40 kilometers to the northwest of where today’s earthquake occurred, but these did not cause any known fatalities or huge damages.

Labor Day also marks the beginning of sporting events such as the football season, including the NFL and the NCAA events. The Southern 500 NASCAR auto race was also held on Labor Day from 1950 till 2004.

Although the recent recession has had major impact on the Americans, it still won’t stop them from enjoying themselves this year. They are expected to be spending big time this weekend, which is also an indicator of their improved economic position as compared to last year.

Labor Day is a federal holiday which is observed on the first Monday of the month of September. This year it’s September, 6. The first ever Labor Day of the United States was celebrated in 1882, on September 5, in New York City. It was designated a federal holiday in 1894, as the aftermath of the Pullman Strike, which involved the deaths of a number of railroad workers at the hands of the U.S. military and U.S. Marshals which were sent in to control the situation, on orders of President Grover.

Beatrice Capra, who knocked off, Karolina Sprem, ranked at 95, in the opening round could very well face former champion Maria Sharapova in the third round of the tournament.

Capra, aged 18 is now the youngest player left in the women’s field. She is currently ranked at 371st.

Beatrice Capra received massive support and was cheered by the home crowd. She is constantly being compared to fellow American player Melanie Oudin who last year, at age 17 reached the quarter finals.

Beatrice Capra who has played against Melanie Oudin in 2008 admits that Oudin has been an inspiration to her.

Capra could now repeat history if she faces Maria Sharapova, who was defeated by Oudin last year at the same stage.

‘I don’t even want to think about that right now,’ Capra said, ‘But it would be so amazing if I got to play on Arthur Ashe Stadium. I can’t believe that I just won my first two matches here.

‘I’m just overwhelmed, I’m so excited. I was so nervous going out there but I had a lot of support and I think that helped me get through.’ Capra was quoted as saying.
