Comedian Robert Schimmel dies after car accident

Robert Schimmel, famous standup comedian, has died at a hospital in Phoenix, on Friday evening. Robert Schimmel frequently appeared on the “Howard Stern’s radio show” as well as the “Late Night with Conan O’ Brien”. He had been involved in a car accident earlier and had been bought to the hospital in a critical condition. He was 60 and had also been suffering from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.
Schimmel had been riding in a car with his 11 year old son and his 19 year old daughter, Aliyah at the time of the accident on Thursday. Aliyah who was driving the car was forced to swerve the car, to avoid a car collision that had occurred in front of them, but the car got out of control and rolled over to the side of the freeway.
Although all passengers of the car were rushed to the hospital, Schimmel’s son was reported to be unharmed. Aliyah’s condition was also reported to have stabilized i.e. physically.
Robert Schimmel, who lived in Scottsdale, had written a memoir in 2008, on his battle with cancer entitled “Cancer on $5 a Day”.
Robert Schimmel has left behind 6 children and two distraught ex-wives Vicki and Melissa.
