Barclays Golf tournament underway

The Barclays Golf tournament, part of the PGA tour begins this year at the Ridgewood Country Club, in Paramus, New Jersey. The PGA tour includes four play-off events for the end of the season, The Barclays being the first of these. The tour is considered the richest golf circuit in the world.
The FedEx Cup will be the next championship in line, which will take place in Atlanta next month.
Tiger Woods seems to have regained his focus for the game at the end of the pressurizing and distracting proceedings of his recent divorce from Elin Nordegren, his wife of six years. This is his first event since then. Playing in the first group of the day on Thursday, Woods succeeded in getting tied for an early lead in the first round, with golfer Ryan Palmer.
The conditions of the golf course have been wet and muddy due to heavy rains that occurred before the tournament, the players were even allowed by the officials to pick up & clean their golf balls.
Woods began the day’s play with four impressive birdies for the first seven holes. He hit the only bogey of today’s round at the 12th hole. This he played from a greenside bunker. Following the bogey Woods came back by hitting 3 more birdies and finally capping the day by executing a 8 foot birdie at the final hole.
Previously Tiger Woods was tied at fourth position in both the Masters and US Open tournaments and was tied for the 28th position at the PGA championship in august, which was his most recent event. Considering the fact that the world’s top ranking golf player, with 14 major championships to his credit, hasn’t won any games since his return to the championships, Wood’s will have to play exceptionally well to make it to the end of this tournament.
