The online customer services of Bank of America Corporation were down today for almost four hours. Although according to the bank’s representatives the services have now been restored.
Tara Burke, a Bank of America representative refused to give a specific reason for the four hour down time of online services which occurred on Friday. She was quoted as only saying that it was a “temporary system” issue, about the incident.
Tara Burke was also unable to say whether such a similar outage had been experienced by the website before.
Bank of America which is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, reports that the outage of online services started 1:25 p.m. EDT and the services were restored at around 5:15 p.m. EDT. All customers my still not be able to access the Bank of America site due to the large volume of users trying to access the site after the restoration of services. Delays occurring in the DNS caching may still be disallowing users to log in to the site but this problem will go away with time, soon enough.
Recently this sort of down time problem has been faced by other banks as well but it turns out that the cause is usually not serious and services are eventually restored relatively quickly.
